We’ve all experienced death and loss in our lives. My older brother died at age 26 after suffering from a terrible disease for several years. A close college friend took his own life. My father died at age 66, just one year after retiring. A few years ago, my landlady’s only son died suddenly, and I spent the next year taking morning walks with her and witnessing her pain, as well as her journey back to a life that could once again include joy. A few years back, a good friend’s daughter died suddenly. I saw his struggle, and also the love shown by his fiancée and their friends and family.

I am making this film to honor these people, and to bring out into the open something most people don’t talk about: death and grieving.
